Environmental risk assessment helps organizations understand how hazards may affect people, ecosystems, land, water, and communities. Poor hazard identification, weak exposure analysis, incomplete data, or unclear regulatory decisions can increase environmental harm, project delays, compliance concerns, and public trust risks.
The Environmental Risk Assessment course covers risk concepts, hazard identification, exposure routes, risk characterization, Canadian legal frameworks, human and ecological risk, toxicity, environmental data, sampling, modelling, GIS analysis, Indigenous governance, risk mitigation, cumulative effects, and project approvals.
Learners will strengthen their ability to assess environmental risks, interpret evidence, support mitigation decisions, and contribute to responsible project and regulatory outcomes. Certification is provided upon successful completion of the course.
